Brushtail Possums are nocturnal marsupials, they are the most widely distributed possum in Australia. Brushtails carry their young in their pouch until the Joey emerges, the Joey then becomes a “back rider’ riding on Mum’s back until they are old enough to move about independently. Brushtails are known for their bushy tails, which they use for balance and to wrap around branches.

Brushtail possums are found in a variety of habitats, including bushland and urban areas. Brushtails are very smart, they are known to be opportunistic feeders and will eat a variety of foods, including leaves, flowers, fruit, and insects. Whilst most live in the hollows of tall trees, they are also at home in roof cavities and other suburban settings.
