About B-ouncé
I woke up early one morning to a rescue message that was just around the corner from me. Bleary-eyed, I hopped into my car and drove straight to the rescue location. The person who had collected her said she was standing in the middle of the road next to her mum, who had recently been hit and killed by a car. This kind hearted individual scooped up B-ouncé in his jumper, took her home and placed her in a box, accompanied by a few blankets and in a quiet corner of his house. He promptly called Bonorong Tasmania’s 24hr rescue service. It was a perfect response; I couldn’t have done it better myself. She came into my care weighing 560 grams and soon bonded with the two other male Pademelons who arrived a few weeks later. They became best friends and were released together after 5 months. B-ouncé, one of the most adorable little girlsI have ever cared for, initially exhibited skittish behaviour making it challenging to catch her for her evening bottle. However, after approximately 2 months in my care, she gradually warmed up to me and would hop onto my lap for a cuddle. I hold fond memories of her. In fact the photo that features on this sign is one of my absolute favourites that I have taken. Her calm yet cheeky personality shines through in the image.

Tasmanian Pademelons are small marsupials that belong to the family Macropodidae, which also includes kangaroos and wallabies. They have a compact body with short rounded ears. Pademelons have greyish short fur over most of their body with contrasting reddish-brown fur on their underparts and a distinctive white or cream-coloured patch on their chest.
Pademelons carry their young in their pouch for approx 6 months, when the Joey emerges from the pouch, Mum continues to suckle the Joey until weaning.
Pademelons are herbivores and feed on a variety of plants, including grasses, leaves, and fruits. They are known to be most active between dusk and dawn.
