Driving back to our accommodation from Killiecrankie Beach on Flinders Island at sunset, I spotted a wombat that got run over by a car. I asked my partner to stop, so I could check on the animal. It was a big beautiful female with a stretched pouch. I scanned the area and found a tiny, velvet joey about 4 meters away. Unfortunately, he was already dead. It was very sad to see that two perfectly healthy animals had to die due to someone speeding. We put both animals to rest in the bush away from the roads.
